SOUTH-MADISON AREA ELS/WELS JOINT EASTER VIGIL
Join Faith Lutheran Church Oregon, Resurrection Lutheran Church Monroe & Verona, Western Koshkonong Lutheran Church, and Sursum Corda Classical School for our annual joint Easter Vigil Service. This year’s service in our yearly rotation will take place at the beautiful Resurrection Lutheran Church in Monroe, WI.
The historic service begins near sunset outside with fire and candlelight in an atmosphere of solemn anticipation with the Service of Light. The Service of the Word highlights the account of Creation and Old Testament readings of deliverance. The Service of Holy Baptism highlights Baptism as an act of deliverance for each individual Christian. The liturgy builds to a crescendo at the proclamation “Alleluia, Christ is risen!” and a dramatic transition from darkness to light for the Service of Holy Communion.
