It was brought to my attention that some members of the congregation, including myself until I became part of the committee, may not be up to speed on the fact we are even considering a building project.
That being said, the committee would like to furnish a timeline of how we got to this point:
Fall 2017 – During a Voters meeting, the congregation was informed of the need to replace the roof over the kitchen.
Winter 2018 – During a Church Council meeting, the possibility of installing a lift along with the kitchen roof replacement was discussed.
Summer 2018 – After being contacted by NCI Roberts Construction about building needs, a discussion began about adding a lift and an addition over the kitchen, nullifying the need for a new kitchen roof. Later on, meetings were held with NCI Roberts Construction and Catalyst Construction discussing different possibilities. After the meetings, Catalyst Construction was identified as contractor frontrunner.
28 October, 2018 – During a Voters meeting, the Church Council presented a proposal to “Approve funds up to $5,000 to be used for preliminary architectural plans” related to the potential building project; the proposal was approved.
2 February, 2019 – During a Voters meeting, a proposal was introduced to approve a Building Committee to handle the details of the building project. They are: Jeff John (Chairman), Cory Olsen (Secretary & Publicity Chair), Ben Thompson (Construction) and Bill Weisensel (Subcommittee Chair), Rick Waldschmidt (Fundraising), Dennis Behr (At Large Member), Kevin Klahn (Finance), and Pastor Jeff Hendrix (Ex-officio Member).
13 February, 2019 – The Building Committee met with Tim Dittloff (Stewardship Innovations), Mark Arndt (Catalyst Construction) and Tom Schermerhorn (Excel Architects, Engineers and Surveyors). The committee signed a contract with Excel to prepare preliminary architectural plans. Additional details can be found in our post “Building Committee Update”, 13 February, 2019.
