Because our service is primarily about God giving His good gifts to us, you’ll find our services look very much the same each week. They follow a pattern that is timeless, which drips with the comfort of the Gospel at every point.
We view ourselves as one tiny part of the church throughout history, and we are happy to take part in that tradition. There is much wisdom for today. We commonly sing along to our beautiful pipe organ, but also make use of piano, string instruments, trumpets, and whatever other instruments our members are blessed to be able to play.
Musicians
We have a dedicated small group of instrumentalist that play, along with our organ, nearly every service. We have a few trumpets, trombone, recorder, tenor sax, violin, and tympani – instruments that enhance the richness and reverence of the Divine Service, not distract from it.
Choir
Choirs in the Lutheran Church have historically sung parts of the liturgy that change from week to week (the “propers”) or to help the congregation learn new arrangements of the texts that stay the same (the “ordinaries”). Occasionally they may also sing anthems. They proclaim God’s Word to the congregation by their music. In doing so, God is praised. Members who wish to use their vocal talents to edify others may join the choir. The choir meets after Vespers in Advent & Lent, and after the Sunday service throughout other parts of the year.
